When I moved here back in the 1980s from Milwaukee an argument could be made at the time that this city rolled up the sidewalks at the night. Not anymore. The entire scene in the downtown area has been transformed from the East Village, to the Farmers Market, the Hy Vee triathlon, the amphitheater on the river The Arts Festival, and a great ballpark. I’m just scratching the surface. I’ve lived in Chicago, New York, Connecticut, and Wisconsin so I know a little about city scenes, and Des Moines is well on it’s way to really making something of itself.
